Can I Bring My Teddy to School?

Is it permissible for my child to bring a toy from home to childcare? The answer is yes and no. If the child needs a "lovey" to nap with, a soft animal is welcome. Otherwise, we ask parents to refrain from bringing toys from home, as this often causes chaos in the classroom. Your child will identify that toy as "theirs," and their classmates will not understand why they don't share. It is very difficult for a teacher to encourage sharing to a child who owns the toy, so our best advice is to leave toys in cars and explain to your child that it will be waiting for them when they leave for the day. Teachers will let you know if toys are needed on special days (aka: "show and tell").
